Background

In April 2023 the 80-kilometre crude oil pipeline between Ras Markaz and Duqm became operational in Al-Wusta governorate. Ras Markaz is a crude oil storage terminal that holds up to 200 million barrels, significantly enhancing Oman’s crude oil storage capabilities and export potential. The Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries project was constructed to transform the port town into a major industrial and economic hub in the region.[7]
