Background

The Rasht–Chelavend pipeline is a 150 km, 42-inch gas pipeline in northern Iran, built to transport up to 5.5 billion cubic meters per year of gas to Azerbaijan as part of regional swap agreements involving Turkmenistan.

In February 2023, a representative of the Ministry of Oil of Iran mentioned that the pipeline would be completed within 2-3 months.^[4] In September of 2024, the operation of the pipeline have commenced.^[2]
