Background

This power station is owned by Luminus, a subsidiary of EDF. In 2021, Luminus withdrew a proposal to build an additional 235 MW of power in gas-fired turbines.[6] The company cited "legal uncertainty" as their reason for the withdrawal, following strong protests against the addition of new gas plants by Ghents MiliueFront (Environmental front of Ghent).[7][8]
