Background
The Environmental Impact Assessment Report for the 5 million tons ironmaking project of Rizhao Steel Holding Group Co., Ltd., Rizhao Advanced Steel Manufacturing Base Capacity Undertaking Phase I Project, was approved in November 2022. The report indicates that the Phase I Project is implemented in stages and is located within the existing factory area of Rizhao Steel Holding Group Co., Ltd. in the production and smelting area of Rizhao Advanced Steel Manufacturing Base in Lanshan District, Rizhao City, Shandong Province. The total investment is 2,803.63 million yuan, including an environmental protection investment of 425.6579 million yuan. The project mainly includes the construction of two 3,000m³ blast furnaces (East Area 1 and East Area 2), including the main engineering systems such as raw material system, smelting system, gas system, as well as auxiliary systems including iron transportation, hot blast stove system, TRT system, and slag treatment system.[1]
