Background

In 2005, CEMEX, a global building materials company headquartered in Mexico, expanded its operations by acquiring the RMC Group, which included the Rudniki Cement Plant. Since 2007, the Rudniki plant has been a pioneer in Poland for the use of alternative fuels in cement production. In 2019 The plant underwent a modernization of a rotary kiln with a heat exchanger tower to replace three long furnaces that had been working for over 50 years. In December 2024, CEMEX partnered with ABB to modernize the plant's electrical systems. The upgrade involved installing state-of-the-art Emax2 circuit breakers equipped with Ekip Touch trip units, enhancing operational reliability and safety. By 2024, the facility achieved an impressive 92% substitution rate of traditional fossil fuels with alternative sources.
