SRM Energy is described on its website as a "part of the Spice Energy Group" which has "embarked on implementing a total of 4,000 MW of power generating capacity in India."[1]

Power projects

SRM states that it is currently proposing to build the Cuddalore SRM power station, a 1980MW coal-fired power station in Chidambaram Taluka, Cuddalore District in Tamil Nadu. SRM states that it has signed a long term coal supply contract with an unspecified Indonesian company for 5 million tonnes per annum "for a period of 20 years with an option to increase to 6 MMPTA at competitive prices. In addition to the above arrangement, the Company has signed a MoU for supply of 5 million tonnes of Coal from mines located at Malawi, Africa for a period of 25 years with an option to increase the same to 7.0 MMTPA."[2]

SERM states on its website that it is also investigating an "1800 to 2000 MW pit head coal based plant in East India" at an unspecified location. SRM states that "the probable locations for the above projects are under evaluation."[3]
