Background

Unit 1 of the captive power station was commissioned from 2009-2010 and has a reported capacity of 60-63 MW.[2][7]

While Environmental Clearance documentation in 2018 stated that a second unit would have 60 MW of capacity, an amendment in 2019 granted the expansion of Unit 2 to 70 MW.[8][9] By early 2019, construction on the second 60 MW unit had begun, with plans underway to upgrade the unit and increase its efficiency by 10 MW.[10] According to Sanghi Cement's 2021-2022 Sustainability Report, Unit 2 had been added to the power station, bringing its total capacity to 143 MW; This appeared to include the original 60 MW unit, a second 70 MW unit, and an additional capacity of 13-15 MW from a Waste Heat Recovery System.[3]
