Background
The Santarém power station was listed as a participant in Brazil's national energy auctions in September 2022[4] but did not submit a winning bid. By September 2024, with no news in two years, the plant's status was moved to shelved-inferred. Throughout 2025, no further updates emerged. In June 2026, having failed to win a contract in Brazil's March 2026 LRCAP energy auction[6], the plant's status was moved from shelved-inferred to cancelled-inferred.
