Background

The Satna Cement Plant power station originally received Environmental Clearance for a 35 MW captive power station in August 2013.[4][5] In May 2020, the plant owner, Birla Corporation, applied for an extension of validity of the project's Environmental Clearance (EC) and was granted a three-year EC extension on June 3, 2021.[6][7]

In November 2021, an EC compliance report filed by Birla noted that their proposed 35 MW power plant had not yet been established.[8]

Other reports in 2021 and 2023 indicated that the Satna Cement Plant included a captive 27 MW thermal power unit, which appeared to refer to a separate, pre-existing unit.[9][10]

As of June 2025, there no apparent updates on the proposed 35 MW unit.
