Background

The Scheldelaan Exxonmobil power station was part of a one billion dollar investment Exxon Mobil Corp. made in 2014 to "expand the Antwerp facility’s ability to meet energy needs throughout northwest Europe."[6]

The cogeneration plant heats approximately 50 percent of the mineral oil from which the refinery products are made.[7]
