Background

Mongla Cement is owned by Sena Kalyan Sangstha (a self-financing welfare organisation dedicated to the welfare of ex-armed forces). In 1989, the proposal to set up a cement grinding mill at Mongla near Mongla Port was announced. Accordingly, Mongla Cement Factory (MCF) started its journey in 1994 with Cement Mill-1 (production capacity of 65 tonnes per hour(tph)) and was formally inaugurated on 8 March 1997. Cement Mill-2 (production capacity of 35 tph) was erected in 2002 and Cement Mill-3 (production capacity of 110 tph) in mid 2016.The factory has been producing & marketing cement for last 28 years under the brand names Elephant Cement and Sena Cement.
