Background
i3 Energy discovered the field via the 13/23c-10 well in 2019 (Europa 2022).[11] In April 2022, i3 announced it had completed a farm-in agreement (FIA) with Europa Oil & Gas Limited. Under the FIA, Europa obtains a 25% non-operated working interest in Serenity, while i3 retains 75% ownership. Both i3 and Europa are independently-owned, listed companies on the London Stock Exchange.
Reportedly, full field development of Serenity could yield 100 MMbbls or more,[12] but Rystad estimates that the expected recovery would be 45 MMbbls[13] and Europa’s investor presentation and independent analysis put the reserves at around 68.5 mmbbls.[14]
In July 2022, Europa’s CEO stated that an appraisal well will be drilled in September 2022.[15] In that same presentation, Europa indicated that production from Serenity would not commence until after 2023.[16]
