Background
The 291 MW Serra da Capivara power station was listed as a participant in Brazil's national energy auction in September 2022[5] but did not place a winning bid. By September 2024, with no news in two years, its status was moved to shelved-inferred. Throughout 2025, no further updates emerged. In June 2026, after the project failed to win a contract in Brazil's March 2026 LRCAP energy auction, its status was moved from shelved-inferred to cancelled-inferred.[6]
