Shagoucha Coal Mine (府谷能源投资集团沙沟岔矿业有限公司(曾用名:陕西省府谷县沙沟岔煤矿)) is an underground coal mine located in Shagou Cha, Xinmin Town, Fugu County, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, China.[1]

Coal Mine Background

Shagoucha Coal Mine is operated by Fugu Energy Investment Group Shagoucha Mining Co., Ltd. Construction began in 1991, and single-well integrated transformation was carried out in 2012.[2]It was completed and put into production in April 2018. The mine has a designed production capacity of 2.1 million tons/year and a service life of 38.9 years.[3]The approved production capacity in 2018 was 2.1 million tons/year.[4]

Shagoucha coal mine started illegal production in 1996, which caused a sharp deterioration in the ecological environment of surrounding villages.[5]On March 24, 2015, an underground accident occurred in Shagoucha Coal Mine, with 1 dead and 2 injured. After the accident, the mine didn't report it to the relevant local authorities but settled privately with the family of the deceased with compensation of 1.8 million yuan.[6]
