Background

GMR Energy Limited acquired SJK Powergen Ltd in 2009, which has been in the process of developing the plant.[1]

GMR Energy received environmental clearance for the 1320 MW coal project in August 2014.[2]

The plant is not included on the GMR Energy website among the "Assets Under Development."[3] Nor is it included in the March 2016 India government list of coal plants under construction,[4] nor a July 2016 list.[5] The project appears to be abandoned.
