Background
Shanwei LNG Terminal (汕尾LNG接收站) is a proposed LNG terminal in Shanwei, Guangdong, China.
The local government is promoting Shanwei LNG Terminal[3], listing the project into Shanwei's 14th Five-Year Plan For Energy Sector in December 2022. No project details were disclosed.[4]
Guangdong Province's Energy Bureau showed no support for the project in 2021.[5]
On September 19, 2023, the Shanwei Municipal People’s Government released the Shanwei Carbon Peak Implementation Plan, which included this project and called for the advancement of its preliminary work.[6]
On January 17, 2024, the 14th Five-Year Energy Development Plan of Shanwei again called for advancing the project’s preliminary work.[7]
