Shaoguan Wastecoal power station (国粤韶关综合利用发电厂) is an operating power station of at least 1400-megawatts (MW) in Lishi Town, Zhenjiang District, Shaoguan, Guangdong, China. It is also known as 韶关浈江煤矸石综合利用发电二期项目 (Unit 3), 国粤华银韶关热电综合利用有限公司700兆瓦超超临界循环流化床机组 (Unit 3), 广东粤华投资集团韶关电厂 (Unit 1 & 2).

Background
Shaoguan Wastecoal power station is a 2 x 350 MW subcritical coal plant in Lishi Town.[4][5]
It was permitted for construction in 2015.[6]
Unit 1 was commissioned in 2017.[7] Unit 2 was commissioned in November 2017.[8]
Expansion
In November 2020, plans were announced for a new 700 MW coal-fired unit at the power station. Construction was reportedly planned to begin immediately, with commissioning targeted for 2022.[9]
On August 29, 2022, the new unit was permitted.[10][11]
In September 2022, a preliminary construction ceremony was held.[12]
In November 2022, another ceremony for construction was held,[13] although it was unclear whether construction was truly underway.
Construction for Unit 3 continued in 2023 and 2024, with milestones including the first concrete pour and boiler steel hoisting.[14][15]
In 2024, the generator stator and rotor were installed.[16][17]
Phase II Unit 3 achieved grid connection in May 2025 and passed its 168-hour trial run in July 2025.[18][19]
