Background

Shin Onoda is a 1000 MW power station consisting of two units supplying 500 MW each. The station is owned and operated by Chugoku Power Company.[1] Unit 1 was commissioned in 1986 and Unit 2 was commissioned 1987.

The plant began piloting co-firing with biomass in 2004 and officially began co-firing at both units in 2007. The plant also has capacity to co-fire oil.[2]
