Background

Shriram Rayons power station is a 125 MW coal plant in the Shiram Nagar Industrial Area of Ladpura Tehsil. It was commissioned in 2005 and is owned by DCM Shriram. In July 2017 the company received a terms of reference (ToR) to upgrade the plant to 141 MW. According to the ToR, 50 MW of the plant will be decommissioned and replaced with a new 66 MW unit.[1] An EIA for the project was submitted in May 2018.[2] The project received environmental clearance on January 3, 2019.[3] As of June 2020, DCM Shriram reports on its website to have 141 MW of captive power capacity, suggesting the expansion has been completed.[4]
