Background

Shwe Taung Cement was formed in 2010 as a subsidiary company of Shwe Taung Group to venture into cement manufacturing business[2]. In 2017, The International Finance Corp considered an equity injection into the expansion of Shwe Taung Cement plant at Pyi Nyaung. The total project investment was estimated at US$110 million, including capacity expansion, a construction of a waste heat recovery system and improvements in emission contro[3].
