Background

The Sinia White Cement Plant at El Hassana is owned by Aalborg Portland Group, the largest manufacturer of white cement in the world. The plant, which opened in 2001 and is located in the area because of extensive deposits of pure limestone needed for white cement, has two production lines with a total capacity of 1.2 million tonnes annually.
