Background
The Sinia White Cement Plant at El Hassana is owned by Aalborg Portland Group, the largest manufacturer of white cement in the world.[3] The plant, which opened in 2001 and is located in the area because of extensive deposits of pure limestone needed for white cement, has two production lines with a total capacity of 1.2 million tonnes annually.[4]
