Background

In March 2025, Telangana’s Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. (SCCL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Rajasthan state utility Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) to establish a 1,600 MW thermal power plant in Telangana. Rajasthan and Telangana would reportedly each receive 800 MW from the thermal power station. A 1,500 MW solar park in Rajasthan was included in the MoU.[2][3]

The two companies reportedly planned to establish a joint venture, with SCCL holding 74% and RVUNL holding 26%.[4]
