Background

The Sour El Ghozlane Cement Plant is owned by a partnership between GICA (Groupe Industriel des Ciments d'Algérie) and the Italian Company Buzzi Unicem.[3] It has a capacity of up to 1 million tonnes of cement per year, though in 2023 it suffered a kiln shutdown which vastly reduced production.[4]
