Background

A 2018 report from the World Bank Group cited the capacity of the plant at 126 MW.[7] Another European Commission 2019 report provided a similar number.[8]Without further details it's unclear if two units have been retired or if there is a different reason. A 2021 feasibility assessment completed by Black & Veach on the behalf of the Sofia Municipality featured plans for a new 240 MW cogeneration plant at this site.[9]
