Data Sources and Methodology
Capacity values are derived from the following source:
National Transmission Company South Africa
This data source covers rooftop solar capacities. Data values are reported as of October 2025.
Capacity is taken from the National Transmission Company South Africa (NTCSA) Weekly System Status Report “Estimated Rooftop PV”. NTCSA defines “Rooftop PV” broadly to include ground-mounted PV and other PV installations that do not have contracts with NTCSA, so it does not map cleanly to GEM’s <1 MW definition.
AC/DC Correction
The data source didn’t specify AC/DC, assumed AC.
