Background
In 2023, Strike Energy proposed to construct and operate the South Erregulla Conventional Gas development near Dongara, in Three Springs, Western Australia. As part of this development, the company proposed the 12 km South Erregulla Gas Pipeline to transport gas from the planned gas processing facility to the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline.[5]
In February 2024, Strike Energy announced that two appraisal wells had failed to flow gas, indicating that the block of interest was not gas-filled. As a result, the company pivoted away from its plans to supply the domestic gas market and instead took FID on a gas power plant. This decision effectively cancelled the pipeline. AEMO removed the project from its "Western Australia Gas Statement of Opportunities" in December 2024.[4]
