Background

This pipeline has been proposed as an alternative to the Midi-Catalonia project, which has now officially been cancelled. The project features an offshore pipeline along the Eastern coast of Spain, connecting Cruzy, France to Hostalric, Spain.[5]

This project is listed in ENTSOG's Ten-Year Network Development plan as a hydrogen-ready pipeline.[2] It is also part of the European Hydrogen Backbone.[1]

However, this plan has also since been shelved in favor of the H2Med plan, which involves the construction of an offshore pipeline between Barcelona and Marseille, and eventually connects to Portugal as well.[3]
