In Providence, the Lower South Side community—home to many Black and brown families—has historically been subject to a variety of environmental injustices, such as the air pollution from nearby Interstate 95 and heavy industry presence. As a result, this community has a disproportionately high asthma rate, especially among children. I-95 can be seen running through the top left of the satellite view, while National Grid facilities (among others) in Fields Point are on the right of local homes.
