Background

The Sumitomo Osaka Cement Kochi Cement Plant, located in Susaki City, Kochi Prefecture, Japan, is a significant facility in the company's production network. The plant operates a 122-megawatt (MW) power station, contributing to the region's energy supply.

In August 2015, Sumitomo Osaka Cement announced plans to expand the Kochi Plant's capacity by an additional 0.2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa), bringing the total to 0.5 mtpa. The expansion was scheduled for completion in January 2017.[3]
