Background, Expansion

In March 2020, design and survey work has started for the proposed expansion of the pipeline from Aykhal, Republic of Sakha, Russia to Udachny, Republic of Sakha, Russia (Айхал - Удачный).[7][6] The project will include construction of a gas distribution station, intracity gas networks to gas consumption facilities, gas boilers, gas heaters for heating the mine air of the Udachny underground mine; the heating networks of Udachny will also be renovated.[1]

In September 2021, Glavgosexpertiza of Russia has reviewed project documentation and results of engineering surveys and issued approval for the project to go ahead.[5] The construction was ongoing in 2022-2023. The pipeline is expected to be commissioned by the beginning of the heating season in 2023.[6]
