Tata Steel Jurong steel plant, also known as Natsteel Singapore Plant, NSL, Tata Steel Singapore, is a steel plant in Jurong Industrial Estate, South West, Singapore that operates electric arc furnace (EAF) technology.
Location
The map below shows the exact location of the plant in Jurong Industrial Estate, South West, Singapore:
- Location: No. 22 Tanjong Kling Road, Singapore
- Coordinates (WGS 84): 1.306741, 103.7003 (exact)
Background
NatSteel was incorporated as National Iron and Steel Mills on 12 August, 1961. The plant began commercial operation on 31 January, 1964. Its name was changed to NatSteel in 1990. The 80 tonne electric arc furnace was commissioned in 1997. It is the only local steel mill with an integrated upstream and downstream operation. Tata steel acquired NatSteel in 2005.[1] NatSteel was renamed as NSL in 2008.[2] In 2021, Tata Steel's stake was sold to TopTip Holdings, a Singapore-based trading firm that is part of China-based Zenith Steel[3].
