Background

The plant is also known as the Globeleq-led Central Térmica de Temane (CTT).[8]

In December 2017, EDM selected Globeleq, EDM, and Sasol as part of a competitive bidding process. EDM chose the consortium due to its experience developing and operating gas-fired power projects, competitive cost of capital, and ability to deliver the most competitive tariff.[8]

In June 2018, a joint development agreement was signed to progress the development of the project and bring it to financial close.[8]

In June 2019, the World Bank approved grants and guarantees totaling US $420 million.[9]

In August 2019, the Government of Mozambique signed financing documents for the Temane Regional Energy Project (TREP). The project is for financing transmission line and substation components of the TREP.[10]

In December 2020, Globeleq announced approvals for substantial funding and EPC selection for the Temane project.[10]
