Background

BW Gas and InterEnergy Holdings planned to invest $350 million in the San Pedro de Macorís terminal project and commission it in 2014.[2] However, the feasibility stage of the project, launched in February 2012, was not completed until the end of 2014, and construction was not completed until the end of 2016.[3] The terminal includes 127,000 m3 in LNG storage capacity.[3]

In 2015, Energy and Mines minister Pelegrin Castillo expressed opposition to the LNG project, stating the country's existing LNG terminal could meet demand in and that the most efficient option was for the government to build a pipeline from Andrés LNG Terminal to San Pedro.[4]

There have been no updates since 2015 and the project is presumed to be cancelled.
