Background

The Tianjin Petrolchemical captive power station was built to supply energy to Tianjin Petrolchemical's operations.[1] While public information about the plant is limited, investment details on the plant's environmental protection projects are available.

In 2013, after the completion of the 100 MW units 7 and 8, the Tianjin Petrolchemical company invested 200 million RMB into installing denitrification systems, which was completed in 2014. Since the beginning of the captive power plant's history, over 1.9 billion RMB has been invested into controlling the plant's emissions.[2][3]

In 2019, the plant was fitted with upgraded desulfurization technology; denitrification and dust removal equipment had already been previously installed.[4]
