Background

The pipeline's sources are Daqing Oil Field and the Russian-China Oil Pipeline. The oil pipeline was originally built in 1986, but never operated since then. After more than 30 years of idleness, it is under reconstruction and upgrade. In October 2020 ownership of the pipeline was transferred from CNPC to PipeChina.[4]
