Torrent Power Pvt, which operates in Gujarat, is the power generation and electricity utility subsidiary of the Torrent Group. The largest company in the Torrent Group is Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.[1]
Coal power station projects
Current coal projects
In addition to owning two gas-fired power stations, one near Surat and the other at Vatva in Ahmedabad, Torrent Power owns and operates a 400 megawatt (MW) coal power station at Sabarmati, Ahmedabad.[2]
Proposed coal projects
In 2009, Torrent Power and the Gujarat Power Corporation proposed to build the Pipavav power station, a 2000 megawatt coal-fired project in Gujarat. The project was cancelled.
