Background

Unit 4 has been mothballed since 2011.[7] In 2020, Tirreno Power submitted a proposal to the Ministero della Transizione Ecologica to fully dismantle unit 4.[8] Once unit 4 is demolished, there is a proposal to build a new combined cycle unit with a 900 MW capacity in its place.[9][10]
