Background

In January 2024, LNG Prime reported that China's Wison had been contracted to build two 3-mpta floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) export vessels for use offshore Nigeria in separate projects developed by Transoceanic Gas & Power and Ace Gas & FLNG Co Ltd (a subsidiary of Transoceanic). Ace Gas's project will be development offshore Escravos and Transoceanic's project will be developed offshore Pennington. Wison has begun pre-FEED studies for these vessels, which will produce 3 mtpa LNG as well as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).[3]

Transoceanic said that the project will be located close to the OML 289 block, which it operates on behalf of Cleanwaters. The FLNG's feedstock will come from this block and other assets. The project will also deploy a floating power barge, which will begin supplying 250 MW of power and eventually be upgraded to 1 GW.[3]

The project has private equity backing, and Quantum Suisse will provide financing for upstream development.[3]
