Background

Financial close for the US$708 million re-gasified liquefied natural gas power plant was achieved in April 2021 after some delay. Four Pakistani banks – National Bank of Pakistan, Bank of Punjab, United Bank Limited, and Habib Bank – each provided loans of US$132.75 million, with commercial debt playing a 75% role in the project finance.[6] A 25% equity investment of US$177 million was provided by the Government of Punjab.[7]
