Tunlan Coal Mine (山西焦煤集团有限责任公司屯兰煤矿) is an underground mine, located in the Gujiao City, Taiyuan City, Shanxi province, China.[1]

Coal Mine Background

The Tunlan Coal Mine is operated and owned by Shanxi Coking Coal Group Co.,Ltd. It was put into operation in October of 2002,[2] Its current capacity is 4 million tons per year.[3] At 2:17 on February 22, 2009, a gas explosion occurred in the Tunlan Coal Mine. A total of 78 miners died.[4]
