Background
The website of Thermal Power Plants JSC mentions expansion of the Turakurgan power station under "Projects and modernization works" as "Development of the Electricity Sector Potential” (Phase 2)" with the cost of implementation of USD 79.35 million and financing provided by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). However, the exact scope of work is not specified.[15]
Ownership
In April 2025, it was reported that the Turakurgan power station would undergo privatization, with all 100% of its shares set to be offered at an international auction.[16]
