Background

The project was announced in September of 2020. New units will provide electricity to Turkmenbashy Complex of Refineries (TKNPZ or TCOR). The project will be implemented by Çalik Energy, a wholly owned company of the Turkish Çalik Holding, which committed to complete the construction in 18 months - by May 2022.[8][9] The units were commissioned in November 2023. In addition to fully meeting the needs of TKNPZ for electricity, the new units will supply excess electricity to the country's unified energy system.[10]
