Data Sources and Methodology

Capacity values are derived from the following sources:

Department for Energy Security and Net Zero

This data source covers capacities in the 0–50 kW range. Data values are reported as of 2025/11.

Renewable Energy Planning Data

This data source covers capacities in the 150–1000 kW range. Data values are reported as of Q3 2025.

MCS Data Dashboard

This data source covers capacities in the 0–150 kW range. Data values are reported as of 2025/09/30.

Ofgem

This data source covers capacities in the 0–150 kW range. Data values are reported as of 2025/09/30.

The UK <1 MW distributed solar estimate is compiled from multiple sources: DESNZ monthly PV deployment for 0–50 kW, REPD for operational solar 150–1,000 kW, and an estimated 50–150 kW segment to bridge the gap. The 50–150 kW block is derived using a residual method (with FIT band proportions used only to calibrate and sensitivity-check), since post-2019 connections in this range are not fully captured by FIT.

AC/DC Correction

The data sources are reported as AC.
