University of Northern Iowa Power Plant

University of Northern Iowa Power Plant is a coal-fired power station owned and operated by the University of Iowa on UNI campus in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The plant has four boilers. Boilers one and two burn natural gas or fuel oil, and are used as stand by and peaking solutions for campus steam demands. Boiler number three burns coal or fuel oil, and boiler four utilizes natural gas as a start–up fuel and coal as the primary fuel. Boiler four is also equipped to burn petroleum coke.
