The Urgalugol coal mines are a set of surface opencast mines, operated by JSC SUEK, a subsidiary of SUEK, in Khabarovsk Krai, Russia.[1]

The mines include Severnaya coal mine, Pravoberezhny coal mine, and Bureinsky coal mine.

Location

The map below shows the exact location of the Chegdomyn coal processing plant, near Chegdomyn, in Verkhnebureinsky District, Khabarovsk Krai, Russia. The Chegdomyn plant processes all the coal from the Urgal mines, which are located around Chegdomyn.[2]

Coal Mine Background

JSC SUEK, a subsidiary of SUEK, operates the mines in Urgalugol.[3]

The mines produced a combined 9.5 million tonnes in 2018, a year in which the mine broke records for monthly production.[1]According to recent CEIC Data, the mine produced 475,500 tonnes in January 2019, suggesting an average closer to 5.7 million tonnes.[4]
