Background

The environmental impact study volume three for UTE Global VII became available to the public in September 2018 and was identified as having ten abnormal risk factors, but the construction of the facility was ultimately deemed viable.[6] At a public hearing in 2018, 21 social and environmental programs were said to be implemented in order to minimize impacts during the power station's operation.[7]

As of November 2021, the project is no longer documented as active by Brazil's national electricity agency ANEEL[8], and there have been no news reports about the project since 2019, so it is presumed to be shelved.
