Background

The Vakilpalli Mine or GDK-9 Incline Extension Vakilpally Block A Project is located in the village Vakilpalli, Mandal Kamanpur, District Peddapalli in the state of Telangana, India.[3] The Vakilpalli Mine or GDK-9 Incline Extension Vakilpally Block A Project has a designed capacity 0.45 MTPA on a ML area of 205.34 Ha. The project previously worked under the name of GDK 9 Incline extension. In 2006 it was renamed as Vakilpalli mine in the name of local village with the mine take area of 205.34 ha. As the peak production exceeded 0.45 MT (0.63 mt in 2008-09) an application in Form-I for the Vakilpalli extension Underground coal mine for increase in production from 0.45 MTPA to 0.60 MTPA in mine take area of 205.34 ha was made to MoEF on 19.08.2013, for issue of ToR but the proposal was delisted by MoEF&CC vide letter dated 17.12.2013 and State Government was requested to initiate credible action on the violation under Environment protection Act, 1986.[3]
