Background

The Varna-Oryahovo gas pipeline was listed as TRA-N-593 on a iteration of the "Gas candidate projects submitted to be included in the new Union list of Projects of Common Interest." On its 2018 Ten Year Network Development Plan Infrastructure Report, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas listed TRA-N-593 as an "advanced" project.[7] On its 2018 TYNDP, ENTSOG stated a date of commissioning in 2022. However, it does not appear in the 2020 ENTSOG TYNDP, nor the 2022 version.[8]

Additionally, Bulgartransgaz's 2022-2031 TYNDP does not include the project.[9] Accordingly, the project is presumed shelved.
