Vellaturu power station is a shelved power station in Vellaturu Village, Suryapet, Telangana, India. It is also known as Mecwel Power Private Limited power station.

Background
The Vellaturu power station originally received Environmental Clearance (EC) for two 150 MW units in June 2012.[4] In December 2019, Mecwel Power submitted an application for the extension of the project's EC.[5] According to the January 2020 meeting minutes of the State level Environmental Impact Assessment Authority of Telangana, the proposal for EC extension had been transferred to the central government's Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change.[6]
In February 2021, the project was granted EC extension by the central Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change.[7] With no news of construction or other progress since the EC extension was granted, the project was presumed shelved and may have been cancelled.
