Background

In January 2020, it was reported that the Gasification of the Yangtze River project plan called for the construction of a LNG import terminal near Wuhan by 2035.The total capacity will be 1.86 mtpa.

No further action could be found by the end of 2022. The project is presumedly shelved.

An analysis from November 2022 indicated that Wuhan LNG terminal was under construction. But there is no other evidence supporting it.

In February 2023, Wuhan Municipality issued Wuhan Water Transportation Fourteenth Five Year Plan. In the Plan, it says the municipality will push forward the development of Wuhan LNG terminal, indicating that the proposal of the Wuhan inner river LNG terminal project is still alive.
